Corrective Strategy
After your initial
postural assessment, the next step is to address your
imbalances. At its most basic, there are places in the body
that are either too tight or too weak. A simple scenario would
be if one shoulder were lower than the other. The muscle above
that shoulder may we weak, or the muscle below may be tight.
Perhaps both. The strategy would be to strengthen above, and
stretch below.
Freeing the connective tissue is the first step to freeing
the joints, allowing clients to learn new movement patterns
which create a feeling of ease. These new movement patterns
may be learned through a variety of strengthening and stretching
techniques including Pilates, yoga, and other somatic disciplines.
Specific movements are learned and practiced in detail to
ensure lasting affect. The healing process can be intense
in the moment, but it’s always liberating.
